As requested by The People’s Committee of Ba Ria ? Vung Tau, in the evening of September 26th , EXE Corp in collaboration with the Department of Health organized a seminar “Information Technology in Hospital Management”.
According to Dr. Truong Van Kinh, Director of the Department of Health, the condition of IT applications in hospital management in the province is quite difficult, lack of synchronization. IT applications in hospital management have only been implemented in the provincial hospitals and some hospitals, district health centers (Xuyen Moc, Tan Thanh). The rest ones have just applied a little bit and haven’t promoted the application of these features. Since 2008, expenditure of IT Investment in more than 30 health units across the province is at approximately 1.5 billion, not enough to buy equipment and invest in software applications.
Mr. Le Hien Minh, Director of EXE, presented an overview of the usage of IT applications in the management and emphasized the urgency of hospital computerization.
Mr. Phi Anh Tuan, deputy chairman of HCM City Computer Association (HCA), one of experts invited by ExE presented an overview of the HIS (Hospital Information System) according with a number of challenging issues and notifications in HIS implementation and the benefits when applied HIS. Then, Mr. Stefan Fleischhacker and Timothy Kim, Orion Health specialists together shared their experiences implementing HIS for FV Hospital.
In units deploying IT applications in hospital management as Le Loi Hospital attained many positive results. The hospital efficiently manage activities related to health care, such as patient records, medical affairs, inpatient, pharmacy, laboratory, diagnostic imaging, patient hospital fees ? Patients? database is fully and accurately managed, stored over the years, and it is possible for check access when needed. The hospital IT applications also help reduce the reporting, statistical, administrative issues. At the end of the seminar, Mr. Le Thanh Dung, Deputy Chairman of the province commented on the general situation, the deployment plan and proposals implemented in the near future.
